Michael Karsy is a board-certified neurosurgeon and Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan, where he also serves as Director of Clinical Programs and Quality at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow. He earned his MD/PhD from New York Medical College, completed his neurosurgery residency and served as chief resident at the University of Utah, and pursued additional fellowship training in complex spine surgery at the University of Utah and in minimally invasive and open skull base surgery at Thomas Jefferson University.

Karsy's research centers on translational investigation, clinical trials, and outcomes in skull base and neuro-oncology pathologies, with a strong emphasis on multi-center collaboration and data sharing. He is an author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and serves as scientific director and steering committee member of the Registry of Adenomas of the Pituitary and Related Disorders (RAPID), a major multi-institutional research consortium. He also holds leadership roles with the North American Skull Base Society and sits on the editorial boards of several journals, including Frontiers in Neurology and World Neurosurgery. He is widely recognized for mentoring medical students, residents, and international research fellows across the skull base and neuro-oncology research space.
