Shemiele A. Lewis

Shemiele A. Lewis is a medical student at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Public Health, both summa cum laude, from the University of South Florida.

Shemiele is deeply engaged in community health and mentorship, co-founding and serving as President and Medical Student Advisor of Turning Pages, a reading mentorship program for Gainesville elementary students, and serving as President of the Student National Medical Association chapter at UF. She volunteers extensively with the Equal Access Clinic Network, providing patient care and referral coordination for underserved populations, and has led community health screenings and outreach initiatives across Gainesville and rural Florida. Her research spans surgical outcomes and quality-of-life studies, including published work on minimally invasive hernia repair, along with ongoing research examining stress and hair cortisol relationships in Black women. She is a student member of the American Society of Black Neurosurgeons and the Student National Medical Association.
